I deliberately set a long shutter speed and held the camera steady to get this model train to blur as it went by. Setting the G7’s zoom to wide and getting as close as I could emphasised the blur.

Travel broadens the mind, at least partly because they do things differently away from home. This image, shot in Madrid, has meat just hanging up in the eating area of a restaurant – you won’t see this in Australia.

Although this image looks massively different to the RAW file, the changes were surprisingly easy to make.

To freeze the riders’ hair and legs I chose a very high shutter speed.

This aeroplane was shot at the Australian War Museum in very little light, and it was spot lit. Shooting at -1ev made the background black and brought the highlights back to something which the sensor could cope with.

I wanted to capture the colour of the fading sky and the neon sign in this shot. By shooting in RAW I was able to bring back a little detail in the sign. The white dot is the moon.
