This scene, shot in Madrid, Spain, was shot in the early morning light. I held the camera against a pole to prevent camera shake.

The sharpness of the leaf in the bottom left corner of the frame shows you can get shallow depth of field with a fairly basic, inexpensive lens. It helps to be close to the subject, and shoot wide open.

The sunlight was fading so I had a high ISO setting ont he camera when I heard the train coming – I had enough time to dial down the aperture in order to slow the shutter speed, but not enough time to adjust the ISO. So even though its a bit noisy, the image of the blurred train with the traffic and car lights shining through is pretty unusual.

Fascinated boy…

This one was worth going into Adobe Camera Raw for, something I rarely do. For this image though, recovering detail in the light panel my son is playingon while not losing control of the background made the effort worthwhile.
